High School GDST Sheffield
In
August 2010 we carried out the electrical refurbishment
of the school’s Physics Science Laboratories.
During these works we removed the existing installations
and installed new circuits for the new lighting
and power requirements. We also installed new
distribution equipment along with data, fire alarm
and interactive whiteboard systems.
The
installation was carried out using a pvc conduit
trunking containment system and LSF 6242B type
cable.
Ecclesall
Infant School Sheffield
In
the spring of 2010 we were involved with the construction
of the school's administration/entrance build.
The works comprised of the installation of new
surface and recessed lighting, power requirements,
door entry and door access systems, data and new
emergency lighting system which covered the entire
school.
The
installation involved galvanised conduits/trunkings
and PVC trunkings/dado and was cabled utilising
LSF 6242B, soft sheath enhanced and MICV type
cables.
The build was undertaken alongside the main contractors
Kier (Sheffield).
Sheffield
Schools - Reception Refurbishment
During
the summer of 2010 we undertook the electrical refurbishments
of the main reception areas of three Sheffield Primary
Schools: Athelstan, Netherthorpe and Westways. The
projects involved the installation of new e/l, lighting,
dado trunking, power circuits within the refurbished
areas along with automatic door access systems,
magnetically controlled door entry systems, and
additional fire alarm installation. The installation
was carried out using galvanised conduits and trunkings
and LSF 64913 singles type cable.

Green Clinic Sheffield
On
behalf of the Sheffield Community Health Trust,
we were involved with the total refurbishment of
this clinic. The entire internal areas of the building
were removed and replaced with a new up-to-date
installation. The project involved a new cable tray,
trunking and conduit system, sub main distribution,
metered split distribution boards, lighting, power,
data, fire alarm, emergency lighting, door access,
intruder alarm and data systems. The entire installation
was tested and certificated by our own engineers
and Operation and Maintenance Manuals issued at
completion.

Refurbishment
of the new Occupational Health Department included:

Northern
General Hospital - Hand and Plastics Unit
Vickers
2 and 3 underwent a complete electrical refurbishment
to create a state of the art, hand and plastics
unit, including new main reception area, waiting
area, post-operative recovery area, with a new
dedicated nurse station and staff facilities.
The
electrical installation and fire alarms, intruder
alarms, voice and data, nurse call systems and
access systems were all under Wright’s umbrella
and were installed to the highest standard.
Northern
General Hospital – New Human Resources Offices
As
main contractor, Wrights were responsible for
co-ordinating all builders work and installing
fire alarms, voice and data systems, intruder
alarms and access systems. We were involved with
the design and build of this project and in collaboration
with the Estates Department of the Northern General
Hospital this project provided a modern, comfortable
and energy efficient work place for the human
resource employees along the ground floor area
of the clock-tower.
Northern
General Hospital – Infrastructure
As
main contractor, Wrights were responsible for
installing new main supplies to various locations
within the Northern General Hospital. This involved
co-ordinating the shutdown of essential services
ie Accident and Emergency Department and working
closely with the Health Professionals to ensure
minimum disruption to the Public.
All
civil engineering works were the responsibility
of Wrights.
Rotherham
NHS Foundation Trust
This
is a 3 year measured term contract. As main contractors,
Wrights manage all sub-contracting building trades
directly from site, from receipt of enquiry up
to payment.
The
works include repair and emergency repair works
up to £300K projects.

Homes Derbyshire
We
undertook the Period Inspection Testing to BS7671
of 1100 domestic housing properties within the
Derbyshire region and surrounding area’s.
Following
the testing procedures we produced manuals consisting
of testing certificates and remedial reports for
the client’s records. We carried out the
remedial work that were required which consisted
of replacing broken wiring accessories, installation
of appropriate lighting within bathrooms and for
external use and the renewing of old obsolete
units and mains tails.

Finningley
Airport – Hanger No 2
In
partnership with Henry Boot PLC, Wrights developed
the design from a client’s concept design
for a complete refurbishment of the old Hanger
No 2 which was previously used a Vulcan Bomber
Hanger when the airport was “RAF Finningley”.
The
hanger was transformed into a unit for paint spraying
aircraft and maintaining aircraft. Wright’s
project included all the supplies to the two spray
booths.

This

of Newark with a mechanical and electrical value

Prisons
HMP Wakefield
The complete electrical and mechanical installation
of A wing and B wing which included a programmes
unit adjacent to both wings. With nearly 200 cells
per wing, including full ablution areas, kitchens
and offices, all areas of electrical and mechanical
work was covered. We were responsible for heating,
domestic water installations, voice/data, general
alarms, fire alarms clock pegging, BMS site wide
wiring and all aspects of the electrical and mechanical
installation.
We
also replaced electrical, mechanical and plumbing
services within other prison buildings.
HMP Werrington
Full
Mechanical and Electrical Installation of the
healthcare unit within the prison, including all
the design and build aspects of the project.
HMP
Manchester
Electrical
and Mechanical refurbishment within certain areas
of the prison, this was a design and build contract
by W Wright Electrical.

Care Homes
A
partnership between W Wright Electrical and Mechanical,
Henry Boot plc, Mansell Build and Rotherham Metropolitan
Borough Council to design and build to a high
specification, two 70 bed care homes, one at Dinnington
and one at Rawmarsh.
The
combined electrical and mechanical value was £3.4m.
Rotherham Minster
The project comprised of the floodlighting
the exterior of The Minster walls, spire, pinnacles
and stain glass window. The Luminaires are controlled
by 2 dedicated lighting control panels.

Mechanical services to the refurbishment

Hillsborough
Library – Sheffield
Hillsborough
Library is a grade 2 listed building located in
Hillsborough Park, Sheffield. We recently installed
a fully addressable L1 fire alarm system to BS5839
which included automatic detection, manual call
points, sounders, beacons, xenons and interface
units throughout the four floors of the building.
We
also installed an emergency lighting system throughout
to comply with BS5266. The installation comprised
of self contained maintained and non-maintained
bulkhead type fittings linked to the local lighting
circuits with individual for each fitting.
The
project was a predominantly surface installation
which was sympathetic to the decorations and fittings
associated with a listed building.
These
works were completed to budget and delivered back
to the client one week early. The work was carried
out during normal working hours whilst the library
was in use.
City
Road Crematorium – Sheffield
The
crematorium consists of two chapels, public areas,
toilets, staff room, furnace room and basement
area. We installed a fully addressable L1 fire
alarm system to BS5839 which included automatic
detection, manual call points, sounders, beacons,
xenons and interface units. Within the chapels
we installed beam detection which was mounted
at high level across the widest span.
Special
heat detectors were installed above the furnaces
due to the close proximity of the chimneys.
We
also installed an emergency lighting system throughout
comprising of self contained maintained and non-maintained
fittings to comply with BS5266. The emergency
lighting system has been linked to the local lighting
circuits with emergency key test switches located
adjacent to the distribution boards. Each emergency
light fitting having its own local isolator mounted
adjacent to it.
These
works including all the additional works were
carried out to budget and delivered on time, utilising
a night shift system due to the crematorium being
use during normal working hours.
